Sculptural lamps designed around their shadows, made in Malaysia by Fakhrul Fahmi.
BAYANG by FF makes sculptural table lamps in Malaysia, designed around the shadows they throw and 3D-printed to order by Fakhrul Fahmi of FF Dev Studio.
The name
Bayang is the Malay word for shadow. Every lamp we make is designed for what happens when it is switched on: the pattern on the wall, the light on the table, the lines that appear between the layers. "by FF" is part of the name. BAYANG is its own brand of lamps, and FF Dev Studio stands behind it.
Who makes them
BAYANG is Fakhrul Fahmi. He runs FF Dev Studio, a studio that designs and builds websites and software. He designs every lamp, prepares it for printing with FF Print, the slicer he wrote himself, and finishes, checks and packs each one. Each lamp carries the //FF mark on its underside.
He started BAYANG on 24 October 2026 with a page of handwritten notes: lamps that are contemporary, cool and premium, abstract pieces of art first and lighting second, made in a creative and honourable way.
What we believe
- Original designs only. We don't sell lamps made from other people's files, and we don't copy other brands' shapes.
- No AI images. Our photographs are real photographs or renders we build ourselves in Blender from our own models. Never generated images.
- Made to order. Each lamp is made for you after you order, and ships within 7 days.
- No invented claims. We publish only what is true and measured: no borrowed reviews, press or certifications.
- No discount culture. Small numbered drops and early access instead of sales.
The four collections
MERDEKA takes Malaysian modernist architecture and abstracts it. INSTRUMENT makes lamps as graphite equipment. STRATA is about layers. WARISAN draws Malaysian heritage objects as lamps.
