Caring for Your Lamp

Bulbs, heat, cleaning and charging: what keeps a BAYANG lamp looking right for years.

Updated 25 October 2026

The bulb rule

  • LED bulbs only. Never an incandescent or halogen bulb. They run far hotter than LEDs.
  • Use the base the lamp was made for. E27 for most wired lamps, E14 for PAM. It is listed on each product page.
  • Maximum bulb wattage: [OWNER: maximum bulb wattage per lamp, from the heat test]. Until it is published, use the bulb the lamp came with or an LED of the same type.
  • Unplug before changing the bulb, and let the bulb cool first.
  • Never let a bulb touch the shade. Our wired lamps keep a measured gap between globe and shade; use a bulb of the same size and shape as the one supplied.

Heat and sun

The printed parts are PLA, which begins to soften at around 55–60 °C. That is well below what a parked car reaches in Malaysian sun.

  • Keep the lamp out of direct sunlight, away from windowsills that bake in the afternoon, and never leave it in a car.
  • Keep it away from heaters, stoves and hot appliances.
  • Indoor use only, in a dry place: away from sinks, showers and anything that splashes, and never outdoors or on a veranda open to rain.

Cleaning

Switch the lamp off and unplug it. Dust with a soft, dry brush or a microfibre cloth; a brush reaches between fins, slats and cells. No water inside the lamp, and no solvents, alcohol or abrasive cleaners, which can dull or mark the surface.

Cordless lamps

  • Charge with a USB-C cable from a standard USB adapter.
  • Don't open the base or replace the module yourself. The light is a sealed, ready-made module with its own charge protection.
  • Battery run time and charge time: [OWNER: measured battery hours and charge time per lamp].

Layer lines

Look closely and you will see fine horizontal lines. They are the trace of how the lamp is made, one layer at a time, and they are normal. A bump, gap or crack is not: if you find one, contact us.
